Judge at this year’s exhibition is BARBARA McKAY: Barbara studied at The National Art School in Sydney from 1956-1960 and travelled in U.K. and Europe for two years. She has had 30 one person exhibitions and been included in many group shows.
In 2003 Barbara was invited to be Artist in Residence at NERAM (New England Regional Art Museum) and spent six months living and painting in the area. Finding the inspiration of the New England landscape so strong she sold her home at Erina and moved to Uralla, from where she continues to work between overseas trips.

Artist invited to demonstrate this year are environmental artist Judith Price & watercolourist Alison Orme

JUDITH PRICE – What started as picking up rubbish while walking on the beach has inspired her to create her unique style of artwork. The body of work “Rubbish Rubbish Rubbish” was exhibited at the Gosford Regional Gallery, in April 2011.

ALISON ORME – Alison works predominantly in watercolour and mixed media and also enjoys pastel, pen and ink drawing and painting on silk. Fascinated by light and the way it affects all we see, she paints intuitively, using both traditional and contemporary methods.

The Nundle Art Exhibition was on again this weekend running  Friday 11 for a gala opening and continuing Saturday and Sunday. This was my first experience assisting with the organisation of this event and I am sure I will have lots of suggestions for updates and improvements to next years event in the hope that the show will continue to grow and not only raise money for the CWA Building here in town but support and encourage artists in this harsh economic climate.

Judge this year was well known artist Phillip Pomroy who gave a detailed critique of all paintings winning awards. It is always interesting to hear how the judge comes to a decision – helps if you think he has lost the plot with his decision on one or two pieces….but thats art and everyone has a different opinion.

Entry numbers were down this year but there was still a good turnout as you will see from the following photos which were taken during the setting up stage – as you will realise when you see  the cobweb broom etc!

My aim with this blog is to give a web presence to happenings in the art world in and around historic Nundle.  Nundle is a delightful village 70km south east of Tamworth, NSW. It is on the edge of the Great Dividing Range so has a comfortable climate, with a bit of snow in the winter if we are lucky. If you want to learn more about Nundle check out http://www.nundle.info
